That's so pretty :o)

Paul, if they are yellow give them a feed with something for ericaceous plants (they like an acidic soil) and make sure they are watered in the summer. They don't form flower buds when there is summer drought.

Lots of buds on my camellia but no flowers yet (I will look more closely tomorrow in case they are hiding!). I have horrible sooty mould on mine too :(

Gee and Paul...I am guessing that a lot of Camellias in the southern parts will be suffering because of the droughts. Its a shame...they are fairly easy to grow and keep healthy up here..they like the acidic soil, the damp summers and the cool temps. One of the befefits of the scottish climate in fact..that along with the fact that a lot of the bugs don't like it so much up here..too cold for them! I have only gardened in Scotland of course as I've lived up here since I was 24. But were I to move south I expect I would have a field day growing things that just won't do well up here in the cool climate! :))

Lovely Camelia G.mage..mine are opening up at last ! I love these flowers...I throw any spare water on mine in the summer..even the washing up water goes on,if it's not greasy...and no ill effects at all....lots of buds this year..hope we don't get a late frost..I will have fleece ready to throw over..:o)

Lol B, images of you draping fleece all over the garden, but you are sensible, that frost does do awful damage. Because the sun is shining at mo. everything in the garden is looking lovely.

It will only be that one,G.mage..the neighbours would think I was a complete nutter..looking out on white clouds all over the garden ! Lol.

Think you might start a new trend B. Lol

Hello Camillia, how are you, and I am very glad you like my flower, it is gorgeous isnt it?

Beautiful flower Grandmage. Where did Camelias originate from? They are very sensitive to frost on the flowers. Didn't the Victorians grow these under glass.
20 Mar, 2012
Oooooh Linda not sure but think they came from India/china because they are a relative of the Tea plant and I should imagine they were once grown here in beautiful glass conservatories.
