I did know Kath, it closed last Autumn, shame I used to like it very much, it was always reasonably priced too. There is another little nursery which I find useful at Bole, do not know if you have ever been there, it is very small but always very reasonably priced, it is just after the bend before you get to West Burton Power station on the right hand side.

That is soooo disappointing. One of my fave. online nurseries closed down a few years ago for the same reason...It was called 'Four Seasons' (nothing to do with 4 seasons on GoY). I loved it. It's disappointing, but there are new nurseries opening up too. The one in Arbroath near me is only about 4 years old and is terrific. They sell loads of heucheras, geraniums, alpines and all kinds of good hardy shrubs and fruit trees for northerly gardens...the full range of plants. I hope you discover some more this season ladies!

I guess they can't be viable if nobody wants to buy them as a going concern.....more a labour of love...I think I could handle that! :)

yes me too!! this one has a beautifully laid out garden which they open to the public and they decided to close the g.c. and just concentrate on their gardens, they could not get the right person in I think to run the g.c. so decided as it was on their property to close it down and enjoy retirement they run a farm also so they have plenty to keep them busy.

Forgot about the one at Bole Barbara , have been there but not recently, thanks for reminding me :-), I went to Silica Lodge in the end and got my rose there and a new phormium, thought I'd risk replacing the ones I lost last winter, fingers crossed we don't have anymore bad winters for a while :-)

I hope for mild winters for a while too Kath. lost a lot of plants in the past cold winters, trying not to replace the ones that suffer with like for like as I hate seeing stuff die. I am trying to stick with the ones which I know will not curl up their toes. It is difficult though when you see all the new plants in the gc and they look so well and you just want to buy and spend your money don't you. Very tempting.

It is the resting area Rose, one of them, lol. it is also the bacon butty (Saturday lunch treat) area for Paul and his friends who help him with his work on a Saturday, so I suppose I ought to get on and get my housework done in readiness for cooking lunch for them all. Have a great weekend everyone.

I chopped it back hard last autumn because when I stood at the kitchen window I could not see up the garden for the height of it. it seems to have done it a lot of good, lots of new growth. It is striped with pink as its new leaves appear then turns bronze in colour with age. Thanks for your lovely comment.

Looking very lush Oliveoil, lovely :-))
I'm so upset :-( went for a trip to Hall Farm on Wednesday, wanted a new rose for the garden and a couple of other plants I'd seen there, its closed!!!!!!,did you know?, as they're nearing retirement age, they've closed to spend more time on the garden, can't blame them I suppose that fabulous garden must take some upkeep, had to be my favourite nursery too.
