Definitely Sticki,
13 Apr, 2012
Thank you,Cinders and Sticki..the Pieris has been wonderful this year....and Cinders if you look closely,on the left, you can just see the Golden Oregano peeping through that you sent me..at the left of the tulips and trough :o)
13 Apr, 2012
Oh yes. Mine has gone mad, I shall be pulling a lot out shortly before it takes over my veg garden !
13 Apr, 2012
That's so nice Bloomer!! Great job
13 Apr, 2012
Does it grow big then,Cinders ? Wonder if I should pot it up,or move it to the long border in the front ?
13 Apr, 2012
Thanks Paul..in hindsight,I wish I had planted more shrubs in that back border now,so it hides the fence a bit more..but I have three roses which get quite tall in the summer,so it will have to stay as it is now...
13 Apr, 2012
lovely view Bloomer :-)
13 Apr, 2012
Thanks S.lad..easy to maintain too :o)
13 Apr, 2012
Depends what you want it for really Sandra. It does make a lovely edging to a garden, but you do have to keep it under control a bit. If you don't want it to do that then I should put some in a large pot/
13 Apr, 2012
I do like it there,Cinders..so will do as you suggest, and keep it under control....mmm,it would probably look nice in a big pot....just thinking ! :o)
13 Apr, 2012
The whole look is really lovely and everything looks so healthy and happy.
The pieris is beautiful, I love them.
13 Apr, 2012
Thank you,Wildrose..I am looking forward to all my pots on the gravel,in the summer..and no slugs or snails bother to crawl over it either ! Lol...I have another Pieris in the side border, which was a layered cutting from this one..I posted a pic recently, with a Camelia next to it..both still looking good :o)
13 Apr, 2012
It's a nice fence that does suit your garden - but even so maybe still could be possible if you really wanted :))
13 Apr, 2012
There is a path, between the border and the fence ,Paul..not what I had in mind, but OH wanted to be able to paint the fence ! ..hey ho :o)...so it's not very wide...no idea where I could put the roses though..
13 Apr, 2012
This is lovely Bloomer! :))
13 Apr, 2012
It looks really pretty Sandra , well laid out to a good plan and planting :o))
13 Apr, 2012
Beautiful . . . a perfect circle surrounded by lovely shrubs. :)
13 Apr, 2012
Thank you,Michaella,Amy and Sheilabub..pleased you like it..the lawn we used to have was pretty dire ! I much prefer the gravel.:o)
13 Apr, 2012
Same with us Bloomer - I personally don't miss the grass for all its trouble
13 Apr, 2012
Gorgeous.....
13 Apr, 2012
So much easier Paul,we feel the same..we still have a small lawn in the front, and would do the same there, but
a steep slope wouldn't work ! Lol.
13 Apr, 2012
How about a rockery ? :))
13 Apr, 2012
Cheers Moti..:o) .how is your lovely Remi doing ?
13 Apr, 2012
I have a small one at the top corner...but where would
I roly poly ? Lol...that conjures up a picture,doesn't it ? ..as if ! :o))
13 Apr, 2012
lol Bloomer - you're always so funny - some cheese to throw down it too
13 Apr, 2012
Lol.lol. I can't see you roly polying Sandra nor me come to think of it!! The Pieris are wonderful this year, this area is really looking great much more interesting than grass;0)
13 Apr, 2012
Good thinking Paul,,Must buy a full Edam....I only have a square pack of mature cheddar..and triangles !..ha ha :o)
13 Apr, 2012
Ah,there you are,Carole :o)....we could roll down together! You could have rolled your Simnel cake..right shape..if you hadn't eaten it ! Lol.I agree about the Pieris,it's been the best year for mine....thank you for your nice comment :o)
13 Apr, 2012
Lovely Bloomer :o)
13 Apr, 2012
Im here Sandra and sorry but the Simnel Cake has all gone now but have an empty wine bottle we could roll lol
13 Apr, 2012
Thank you,Neellan, pleased you like it :o)..
13 Apr, 2012
That says it all,Carole ! :o)))
13 Apr, 2012
Looking great! :)
14 Apr, 2012
Also bloomer is the red shrub berberis ? Looks lovely - would like one of these myself
14 Apr, 2012
Thanks Pixi..no more backbreaking work, getting rid of weeds ,or doing edges ! :o)
..................
No it isn't a Berberis Paul..it's a variety of Hebe, called Caledonian...evergreen,and very hardy..stays compact, but I trim it over after flowering to keep it bushy..still had a few flowers on all through winter..I think I have a pic of it somewhere,in full flower..that's if I haven't deleted it..I will have a look...
Found it,Paul..first photo on page 6 ....
14 Apr, 2012
great Bloomer - means I can add to Goy too :)))))))))))))
14 Apr, 2012
ok ,Paul..It's Caledonia..sorry,added a 'n ' on the end :o)
14 Apr, 2012
Yeah I'm not missing mowing the wee bit grass I had now..filling up wiht lots of plants :))))))
14 Apr, 2012
Much easier,Pixi..I knew you would like it,once you decided to get rid..more time to spend doing other things in your garden..or just chilling out :o)
14 Apr, 2012
Yeah! :) bit cold for that today :)
14 Apr, 2012
Looks lovely and tidy...
14 Apr, 2012
Same here,Pixi..so cold today..brrr..
Thank you Carol..It's so small,it could hardly be anything else but tidy ! Lol....to be honest,I hardly seem to get many weeds..and easily spotted if I do :o)
14 Apr, 2012
Beautiful Bloomer :-)
14 Apr, 2012
Thank you,Willinilli..how are you and your lovely doggies ?
14 Apr, 2012
Your garden looks good and the shrubs are colourful. The early flowered varieties have flowered well this year.
15 Apr, 2012
Thanks Linda..I agree, everything seems to be doing well this year, thanks to our better winter here..still got a keen frost this morning, but a lovely sunny blue sky now..it will soon clear .:o)
15 Apr, 2012
We've had some really lovely sunny mornings here but it's clouding over again now so I've just got the washing in.
15 Apr, 2012
Oh B your garden is gorgeous, this is the first time I have seen it!!! Your Pieris looks very healthy, what a delightful little garden.
16 Apr, 2012
Thank you,G.mage..Yes,only small, but enough at the back for me..only problem is ,I like so many plants and not enough space !...looking foward to having the summer pots on the gravel though. Just a waiting game now :o)
16 Apr, 2012
Like us Bloomer we only have a small garden and I want so many plants in it especially when I go to a garden centre, I have to think twice about the plants sizes now.....Like you I can't wait to get the fuchias and geraniums into the garden, and the other containers
17 Apr, 2012
Looks gorgeous Bloomer, love your circle :0
17 Apr, 2012
Thanks Linda,so frustrating ,isn't it ?..but somehow we manage to find just another little space ! Very heavy showers today, and then sunshine..so in between,I have taken my Fuchsias out of the plastic growhouse,to give them a decent watering..hope I get chance to go out and put them back later :o))
........................
Thanks Ydd..OH was instructed to make a perfect circle..with a plumb line on a stick in the centre ..and he did !..one happy Bloomer Lol.
17 Apr, 2012
I'm trying to leave all my plants in the greenhouse until May, and then I shall pop them into the flowerbeds and patio area. The fuchias are flowering well already. Gerry gave them a feed yesterday as they are going a bit yellowy.
18 Apr, 2012
I am going to have to plant all mine out in mid May,Linda..as we are now going away for a week,so I can't leave them inside..just hope we don't have a late frost,as they don't usually go out till the end..They will have to take a chance..all the tender bedding seedlings will be living on the kitchen table !
18 Apr, 2012
They should be ok for mid May. Any frosts aren't usually that damaging then. I usually acclimatise my plants for two days before actually planting them out. I am lucky in this neighbourhood as we all look after each others plants etc when away and help one another.
18 Apr, 2012
I think so too,Linda..a lot of the Fuchsias were from last year anyway,so pretty well grown, and overwintered ok..
My neighbours used to look after mine, but being in ill health and in their eighties ,I wouldn't dream of asking now..but it was good while it lasted.:o)
18 Apr, 2012
Some of my fuchias were from last year but I did take cuttings so they will go into the flowerbeds and the bigger ones, stay in large pots for the patio.
19 Apr, 2012
Ditto,Linda...hope we do well with them this year..:o)
19 Apr, 2012
:0)))
19 Apr, 2012
Hi Bloomer...Remi is doing well, thank you.....growing big and strong and plenty of chat...20 months now...:>)
20 Apr, 2012
Same here,Moti, great to listen to now..even if we can't always decipher some of it,when he gets excited! ..just love this age :o)
21 Apr, 2012
Thanks H.bird..The roses at the back are taller than the Euonymous in the centre now..still in bud stage here,though..and the Delphiniums on the left are like triffids ! so much foliage, and spikes only appearing...wish everything would open now..I'm so impatient ! :o)
