Terratoonie:

Thanks! :>)

I purchased this plant late last summer. I had been wanting one for many years. Now, I just need to find some place in semi-shade to plant it in the ground.

Alexandramou:

I'll see if it will produce seeds. Thanks!

I left the flower spikes on after blooming because I wanted seeds...then it bloomed again from the old flower spikes from January.

Thanks! Yes, it has beautiful flowers, especially in the middle of winter (it's primary blooming time). It's somewhat unusual for a plant native to so deep in the tropics (southern India) and to have such a blue flower.

Soooo, I would have to keep this plant indoors during the winter???

Alexandramou:

It does very well outdoor here in San Diego. It is considered very tropical, though. Temps below 40ºF/4.5ºC would most likely cause damage. I'm sure even temps a few degrees above freezing would kill it.

A pot plant then. ;o)

Yes, a pot would be safest for you. It really is considered a house plant for most of the U.S. (the exceptions: parts of southern California and south Florida).
