Isn't there? will it all flower at once when we have some sun, do you think?

We were comparing this year with last earlier this week, Dotty ... lots of buds but no blooms this year ... so very cold outdoors ... no warmer in the greenhouse either ... :o(

Quite a difference. I think it will all come at once as soon as we get a little warmth.

It looks truly lovely and makes me realise what we are all missing...sunshine, warmth and blue skies!! Our borders are just the same at the moment and seem to be at a stand still.

Absolutely beautiful! My borders are still waking up :(((

Shirley you are correct lots of buds, rather worried that all the roses will just rot on the branches...still cold here, heating on yet again!!Thanks TT and Paul I do love our borders, they get larger every year and the grass gets smaller lol
Wildrose it is as if it is frozen in time, a little sunshine would go a long way to waking everything up......
Thanks Michaella I keep thinking I am back living in the Midlands, we moved South for the mild climate ....ha ha!!

Wow, yes, a huge difference...but it will catch up A! Tell me, does your Choisya (it looks the same as mine..sundance?) go very pale and scorched looking as it comes in to flower? Mine is just about to flower now, but the leaves are looking quite unwell. It seems to happen each year and recovers in time...is yours the same? hard to tell from this pic, whether the paleness is just the flowers.

Looks lovely

Karen it is Sundance and it certainly looks a little the worse for wear at the moment, too much wet and cold I believe, it will recover, this does not happen to our green one, but the yellow is more tender.... is in for a hard prune this time......as you say hard to tell by this picture which is not very good, I am sorry to say.

Thanks A. It happens every year to mine. I suppose the damage is actually done in late frosts and then you really notice it once the flowers start appearing. Definitely bleached mine, but it does get some early morning sun.

This gets most of the sunshine in the morning, it is relatively happy, the other is growing in shade and it has not suffered so much?

9 May, 2012

Yup, that must be it then A. Thanks! :)) I think I will have to move my big Camellia also as all the flowers have been 'browned off' this year. Still, I'll leave it another year as the weather has been so bad. It might be a one off.

Is it in a pot or the ground, they are difficult to site, like the protection of other trees, and must not have the early morning sun on frosted flowers...very hit and miss..ours were under the neighbours overhanging trees, then she went and cut the trees down!! so ours went brown this year also.
