The name Veronica & the brass plague are there in honour & in memory of the ship & the heroic crew of the Veronica, which was in harbour at the time of the big 1931 earthquake which virtually destroyed the inner city of my hometown Napier in New Zealand. The entire crew of the Veronica came ashore & saved many lives as they searched through the wreckage of buildings & homes.

That's so interesting. The Napier earthquake of 1931 was about as strong as the 1906 quake in San Francisco.

It's a beautiful garden design to honour the crew of the Veronica! :)

That's an interesting piece of history. Good that the crew of the Veronica was so heroic. A lovely floral display :o)
