Iris Sibirica 'Sparkling Rose'

Iris Sibirica 'Sparkling Rose'

Having removed most of my Sibirica Iris last year, I ended up re-introducing this one to the pond area!

Beautiful

I love Iris so much Cinders, but I find the bearded ones need too much sun and these ones just flower for such a short time and then you have the foliage all the rest of the time, and they grow and spread very fast! I'm never happy...I need another garden just for Irises! If I ever get an allotment (actually I am first or second on the list now!!!) I shall grow some there where there is a bit more space!

A lovely rich colour;0))

Yes I know what you mean Karen, the foliage is not exactly the prettiest is it. The one you sent me unfortunately hasnt come up this year. Shame.

Yeah lovely colour Karen...

Lovely markings

That's a pity Cinders, but these things happen. I have one in the front garden that hasn't appeared either.

Thanks Franny and Sheilar.

I love the delicate petals - look hand-painted. I personally really like them.

I've been willing your Iris Bold Print to flower :). It looks healthy but looks like I'll have to wait until next year for flowers.

How exciting re the allotment :)))

I'm not a huge fan of the bearded group but am getting into these more and more - really nice Karen!

Thanks everyone! Dawn, they are fabulous in a larger space like you have. I just feel they get a bit large a bit quickly in a smaller more 'controlled' space like mine. They are especially beautiful near water of course!

I agree, show up so well against the backdrop of water :-) Yours should look great next to the pond.

Yes, thanks, as long as I keep lifting and dividing!

I've never had the spreading problemo - my soil aint great though - suppose every cloud has a silver lining.

6 Jun, 2012

lol..I suppose so Dawn! They grow like billyo here!

I'm obviously not as fertile as you Karen. ;-)

I like the stripey leaves. Great news about the allotment, I thought you would need extra space soon.

Don't know whether I shall be able to take one on when it comes though SG. I am supposed to be sharing with a friend, but he is struggling with personal stuff right now, so we may have to go to the bottom of the list....depends on what they offer, if it is a tiny plot, I shall probably take it on.

If you take it on you will probably find a queue waiting to join you. Some of the existing plot holders might be willing to take part of it. Pity he is not able to benefit from the therapeutic benefits of gardening to help him relax and deal with his other problems.

Scotsgran is right - even if you offer space on a temporary basis it may be of use to someone for salad crops or christmas spuds.

Well, that's a good idea...let's wait and see when my name comes up though. It could be a long time yet.

A beautiful Iris and picture too, I love them all.

I have a no show on any of mine this year :o(

11 Jun, 2012

Oh, that is really disappointing. :(

Yes very but I think 'Ever again' is forming a flower in a pot taken from a division last year. Your 'Perry's blue' is sadly just leaf at the moment.

.....sigh....sorry to hear that. Can't be lack of water that's for blooming sure....or perhaps should I say 'not blooming sure'......:S
