didn't notice the shadow, and went up to check once you'd said it, still not obvious to me, unless the shadow takes up the whole pic. 2cm - that's one calm insect!

Thats a brilliant shot P. You dont happen to know a forum where i can post a picture of a rather soaking wet bumble bee for id. Ive tried to id online but because its so wet im having difficulty.

Bees are notouriously hard to ID from a photo Scottish. Fact most are solitary bees.
