I like to try to imagine such structures being built.
The tools used, and clothes the builders would have worn.

The building is much the same as it always was, there is a particular way of using this stone..and it's a Lime Mortar, the tools are similar...but heavy lifting of stone is now done by machine, and the guys wear shorts T shirts and hard hats ;o)))...I'll see if I can find some old pics for you...I find this fascinating too...

My Dad used to love going around the very old old Cemetaries, I thought it odd at first, but I went with him once, and it was so interesting....
