That's gorgeous....I'm liking that combo too!! I was just thinking about what to plant in front of a sedum earlier today :))

What a gorgeous colour Sandra, love it.

Thanks Carole..They seem to be more red this year,as they do prefer a bit of shade..and plenty of water ! Ideal conditions this year then,.Lol.
..........
They are nice,Willi.,thanks...I'm surprised yours get flattened..I don't seem to have that problem with them...maybe mine are more sheltered, with having the Sedum behind it..
..............
Thank you,Scottish..well,there you go then.problem solved :o)...it was only a tiny clump, and it soon spreads along .I also have some in front of a Euonymous 'Silver Queen' and looks nice against the variegated foliage.:o)
............
Thank you,Jane, pleased you like it.It is always earlier than a taller one I have, and been in flower for a while now..My other is still in tight bud stage,if that's any help..
...............
Thank you,Cinders.I think it's the best colour it's ever been this year..I love it too :o)

Umm, no not quite there yet. I have a sneaking suspicion, it got 'sheeped' which most definately will have inhibited it somewhat. Jxx
16 Jul, 2012
Oh dear,A 'sheeped' Astilbe isn't good ! x
16 Jul, 2012
Oh I love the colour!!!!!!! Mine are pale pink..not fowering yet..but I love that colour!!!!!!!!!!!
16 Jul, 2012
No Bloomer, sheeping is not good for plants. It was running through the garden, but managed a few mouthfuls on foot :-(
16 Jul, 2012
Fast food huh ? Lol..My mother in law couldn't save anything in her garden..the sheep even ate her conifers !
16 Jul, 2012
They will eat anything. nasty creatures. Jx
16 Jul, 2012
I know some people who will eat anything ...nasty creatures too ! Lol.x.

A lovely dark colour. I like it!
16 Jul, 2012
Thanks Chris..the foliage is more of a bronze colour when it first starts growing again too,so more colourful..it changes to this green as it matures.I leave the flower spikes on all winter,as they turn brown,so still something to look at :o)

19 Jul, 2012
I have had it a long time,Paul, and this is the best it's ever been..so it must be down to all the rain..good for some things eh ? just not us ! Lol.
19 Jul, 2012

19 Jul, 2012

21 Jul, 2012
Thank you,N3...it is a little belter :o)
21 Jul, 2012
That is a textbook photo, Bloomer - perfect flowers and foliage and not a weed or bugaboo in sight!
23 Jul, 2012
Just a happy accident..for a change,Gattina.:o) ...no weeds,no bugs..but if I took a pic today.a little rogue orange welsh poppy has appeared ...just to show it isn't perfect...Lol.
23 Jul, 2012
Oh I remember those! They used to be the bane of my life, ruining my colour scheme! LOL!
23 Jul, 2012
I like them,Gattina..but in the right place..not the best colour to go with that dark red ! I let them seed freely in my long border at the front, along with the yellow ones..fills a lot of gaps before any other colours appear in late spring ..I've just looked closely at the pic..and there it is,right at the end,by the Euonymous ! I hadn't noticed it before it flowered yesterday..sneaky ! LOl.
24 Jul, 2012
:o) I should learn to be more forgiving and accommodating. Frankly, anything that stays alive in my flower beds at the moment should be welcome!
24 Jul, 2012
Good idea,Gattina..and it's trying it's best to please me ...I can't make it move house already,it's omly just got there :o)...
24 Jul, 2012
Aaawwww! It's obviously "be kind to the Welsh Week!"
24 Jul, 2012
I'm kind to them every week..ask Hywel ! Lol.
24 Jul, 2012
:o) I'm sure...............
25 Jul, 2012
A beautiful colour :o))
26 Jul, 2012
Thanks Annella..they seem to last ages as well..what I call a good 'doer':o)
