Yes Janey a real beauty and Sheilar we only get red squirrels.

Great to see that. We have reds in the woods beyond the house, but never had one visiting.

They come every year as have a run with all the many trees for the woods.

I wish we had them down here, he is a lovely colour. We just get the boring grey ones, and they do make a mess of the nut trees. lol. :O) and they steal eggs and they shout in the trees, lol. would be nice if they got this far down the country.

These do pinch the birds food too but they are a pleasure to watch.

And when we walk through our woods you can see then on their tree run is amazing to watch.

But we certainly dont want the grey ones.

How fantastic. One of my favourite animals in the world! We don't have them in our garden I'm afraid, but we don't have greys either. I've seen greys in the park though and I've seen Reds in the lanes.

No Greys with us Karen infact never seen any grey.

Yes, the spread of the grey is a big worry for the SWT who are working very hard to conserve the Reds. There are signs up in the park asking people to report sightings of Greys. I am definitely in favour of a cull of the greys, it's sad, but I feel that we need to do everything we can to give the Gingers a chance!

The greys are getting to be pest proportions in some places. They are supposedly guilty of passing on a disease to the native red squirrels which is rather a worry. Hopefully you will stay clear of the little grey perishers up there in Scotland. I did see somewhere south of Scotland that had red squirrels but cannot remember where it was now. I used to have a cat that sat under the trees and waited for the squirrels and caught them and killed them, she used to bring back the tails as trophies. They can be nasty if cornered and she must have been so brave and very quick. Rather glad she caught them and not the birds.

Fantastic shot!

He is cute, so lovely to have red ones in your garden, but i dont think the grey ones should get a bad name as they did not ask to live in the UK, it was man who fetched them from America.

Marvellous seeing a red squirrel Scotkat. It can pinch my peanuts anytime. Those grey ones are a real pest as I have Hazel trees growing every where.
