Thanks Sheila...new in my garden last year - it is just small at the moment but a nice and healthy like you say.
All the surface water has gone - soil still very wet. Have cut back what I can - took out a couple of perennials which had completely rotted. I have decided to leave the cotinus in place - although it looks very sad, it has been producing new leaves on the very tips of the branches, over the last week - so there must still be life in there yet :) The exochorda - it's given up the ghost!
Still need to do research and plant things like astilbes just in case it's going to be a regular occurrance!
Thanks Paul - not it is a perennial Potentilla - showing no signs of deep pink flowers I had hoped would grow up through the Cotinus!

So glad the Cotinus is OK, and it looks very good with the limey-green of the Potentilla (which maybe will flower when it sees the sun!).

Thanks Sheila....its not this Cotinus which is suffering but another. You may remember seeing it in a previous picture with some lupins

Lots of lovely colour and texture going on there. Not heard of that Cotinus before. It looks nice and healthy. I hope your flooding is receding.
