This plant has been in constant flower since March 2011! It continued to flower even after a -14c frost earlier this year. It has even survived being dug up and moved from my neighbour's garden to mine and never stopped flowering.....just in case you're wondering.... I did get permission to do this! :^)
It takes very easily from 3 inch cuttings with a fairly firm stem in a potting mix of 3 parts compost to 1 part horticultural sand taken in late May . It roots in 3-6 weeks.
It is the perennial wallflower Erysimum "Bowles Mauve "

Yes it is wallflower Erysimum "Bowles Mauve " Anchorman I too find they flower continuously. I take cuttings every year as I find eventually they get too woody and need replacing.

Do they take from cuttings any time during the growing season DRC?

I find they do, but I usually forget and take mine in September and find they are very nice plants (having been protected all winter) and flowering by the next July.
I do not find this is true with other Erysimums though, much shorter lived and they seem better if left to self seed.

That's good to know, thank you .
I took cuttings of this plant for the first time this year in mid May and they all rooted very quickly. I've taken 30 more today .

I will try to take them earlier next year, as it sounds as if they could be planted out in the autumn?

Bowles Mauve
Must be one of the easiest plants there is to root,I have pushed pieces in the ground where my big footed dog has broken them and they are rooted in a month Erysimum Apricot twist is also just as easy to root but with me not quite as vigorus,
New to me in spring was a lovely variegated leaf Erysimum called Walburtons 'Fragrant sunshine 'Took a couple of cuttings from the only two stems without buds within days of purchase, pleased i did as it has also flowered continuously but now looks totally exhausted and doubt it will survive the next month

.I have just taken cuttings from mine today too,we must be on the same train of thought ! ..just stood them in a shaded coldframe, with the lid partly open..hope this is the right thing to do,as never had one till earlier this year,,but what a plant for continual flowers..I love it :o)

The ones I took in May could be planted out now although they are still only about 10 cm tall.
I had my cuttings in a closed shaded coldframe

Sounds as though they root easily ,Anchorman..and I will leave them in the coldframe..do you think I should close mine ? just assumed a bit of warmer air would be ok..

They do root freely so I guess they may roor OK in an open frame..... you'll soon know!

I will won't I ? I hope so :o)

I have this one mine has been flowering for months to ........

My two have flowered continually through the summer, autumn & winter, & they are still covered in a mass of flowers as we enter into spring in NZ. I am certainly going to plant some more this spring, in the back garden so we can enjoy them over the months ahead.

I bought a variegated version of this plant about 6 weeks ago and took 3 cuttings and they all took within 3 weeks.

Mine rooted fine in the open coldframe,Anchorman..and so I'm very pleased..and the original still flowering happily too :o)

Erysimum's seem to root faster and easier than anything else I can think of. If they cope well in small pots outside over winter and flower well in spring I shall add them to my grow list on my nursery

I don't blame you,A.man...great value plants.I hope they do well for you :o)
