Hate to say it, but it looks like Lobelia speciosa and not Salvia..............

I'm 100% on the Lobelia bit - 70% on the speciosa part.

As a rule, the hardy perennial ones do...............

I thought it was a lobelia too!! I have just read that tincture of lobelia is good for kidney stone pain! (as I am now going down the heal myself, herbal route!)

Thanks ML. A bit cross to find ANOTHER of my lobelia (about to flower) eaten by snails :((

Coffee grounds - slugs 'n snails can't stand 'em!

Oh tried all that!! Next time they are going into pots. Trouble is, they are using the plants at their side to get up and then onto.......only one left............

Buy better coffee!!
Seriously though, nothing in the beds gets touched. But I have to patrol my pots and coldframe.

My lobelias are in my border...that's the problem. I have grown some nicotiana, in pots and around the pots, sand and coffee grounds but we only have grounds when guests are here!!
Talking about olympic slugs...my OH was wondering what had happened to the olympic fast walkers? It may be called power walking nowadays. I did it this morning to try and beat the rain!
