Beauties

They've really turned me on to violas Drc, they've given a brilliant show. I want some white for next year too:-)

Are they mildew free?

I prefer them to Pansies..and always buy the winter ones..they seem to stand up to the weather better..I've never tried them in summer....(she says, loosely) :o)

I didn't know they were prone to mildew Drc. I've never seen mildew on violas, I have a few in the back garden, Rebecca and Etain and some of the smaller flowered, don't think cornuta, but never seen mildew. Mind you, I'd not seen heuchera rust 'til this year either. The only problem I have with the smaller flowered, bedding type violas is they are eaten by the flippin wood pigeons:-)

They can get a Powdery Mildew and Botrytis (Gray Mold) I had them 2 winters ago in baskets and they were covered in it, yet the pansies in the other baskets were not.

Love the violas and this one is a very pretty one and they do stand up to the wet weather too;0)

I'll have to google Drc to see what causes it. Mine are in the ground, maybe dryness? :-)

Hi Carole, that's why I bought them for the front, I intended lavender and gypsophylla, neither of which would have done the job this year as the beds didn't drain as well as I thought they would. I'll probably have to keep watering them next year ...you can't win can you lol:-)

Very, very pretty. Our garden centre had lots today and I was very tempted to get some but bought tulip bulbs instead.....maybe next week though!!!

Oooh, I haven't bought any bulbs yet, the ones I had in pots down by the compost bin were emptied by unknown creature, squirrel? Do they eat bulbs? I may buy some beautiful tulips now you've reminded me:-)

I bet they do. They can be very destructive - the grey ones I mean.
I won't be planting the bulbs for a while yet but just spotted some that I really liked - as you do!!!
