Baby on the Steps

Little thing stared at me a lot, but knew it is well protected by momma, so she wandered right up the steps in front of me. I was surprised most things where fine, though I hadn't found that she stomped on of the azaleas. Even small, she is very large and stomped it good. She went up and munched on the crab apple, (of course).

Oh, the mother is probably seven feet to the head, at least five to the shoulder. And they are dangerous, but she stayed behind the house.
One stomp is least of it this year. I had the crabapple tree eaten and stomped, which comes once every year. This baby was a welcome change.
Thank you both!

Lovely to see it GT, from the safety of the computer...lol!
It's a good job you're used to them......not so good for you're plants though having a late summer prune...:0((

Thank you Janey. :-) I'm just lucky to have an exotic variety and they are really picky creatures. These young ones are the worst, trying everything for the first time. I'll not be planting another crabapple for a while, it was like a magnet for the moose. In four years it is still the same exact size. !!

Doesnt he have big long ears? Could be a cross between a deer and a donkey....lol! Do you think they suffered bad belly ache after munching your crab apples?

Thats a good cross. :-) I hope hey get belly ache afterwards, but it hasn't stopped them if it does.

GT:
I didn't realize you had moose up there in Alaska. I always think of moose being up in the upper mid-west.

The moose live everywhere from that area northward. It is the main visible wildlife here, roaming the streets and generally a garden nuisance.

I looked up their native range. It's a pretty large area...even in northern Europe.

Anywhere you find a cool winter it seems, they thrive. So big I don't think there is much competition. Grizzlies are even wary to attack these.

Yes, I've seen pics of how large they grow, huge! :>)
