We usually have several in the spring, but they are less common in the summer.

i have a feeling i have only ever seen one once and that was in the woodland area of Ickworth, Suffolk

We have woodland on 2 sides of the house which is why we see them quite a lot :o)

i have woodland two sides as well but very few butterflies there. i think its warmer and sunnier where you are?

Fabulous! These are such a fantastic colour....the first time I saw one of these was in the hillside of Spain in February, we've been lucky to have one in the garden here, but would it open it's wings? Oh no.....lol.

They never open their wings when they have landed which is a shame, helps prevent them being eaten maybe.
