You have done very well to keep it going and for it to come into flower Angela , I can't be sure but I believe we saw these growing on an Island in Ireland , a few years ago we were almost kidnapped by a person who stepped in front of our car making us stop, he said would you like to visit an exotic island garden we said yes please he led us to a speed boat which sped passed other islands passed Maureen O'Hara house we felt as if we were in a James Bond film LOL it was an amazing journey finally finishing up at this fantastic island where the garden was open to the public , all the better for us being taken by surprise ,I'm sure we would never find it again ! come to think of it he could have really kidnapped us and we fell for it !!!

Wow, what an amazing story Amy! I really get the sense of you wondering if it had been real! Brilliant bit of good fortune being kidnapped that day! :)
A, I am so impressed that you've got this growing outdoors..what a beautiful tropical focal point for your garden! :)

It's beautiful! It reminds of the more common Bromelia balansae (Heart-of-flame), which this plant is related.

one of the best plants around...mine is in a tiny garden by my washing line...it sits full of weeds all summer. yesterday i noticed my Fascicularia in all its glory poking out from the over grown weeds. of course i then spent 5 mins weeding around it . its such a stunning plant. enjoy your flowers Dd.x
