Buying a gift for yourself means there's no element of surprise ... but compensated by the fact it is EXACTLY what you were hoping to receive ;o)

A beautiful Christmas Rose, you deserve a present to yourself all the hard work you have put in this year in your lovely garden ;0))

Ah, thanks PP, I feel so much better about it now! :)))

Couldn't have chosen better myself Karen...:))). Just beautiful, mine are all doing so well, loads of buds ready to open, I'm hoping they will by Xmas. A pressy for myself would be a Mahonia Charity, I really want one of these for winter colour.

Such a lovely plant - a good present! I've never had any success with them, despite growing lots of hellebores. So Christmassy ...

Good for you, K. Lovely to have at this time of year! :-)

Thanks B! ;) It is. It's looking lovely today as the weather here has turned a lot milder. In spite of saying I was 'resting', I did go out and get a lot more done outside. You should see my 'japanese' corner, what a mess! It's going to take me a couple of hours just to pick up all the leaves from around there, and the Akebia will need another good prune! Tomorrow perhaps!

I might get out today to see if my new Hellebores (niger) are flowering. They did have buds on them when I planted them!
I should get the roses half-pruned, too.

I went to town on my roses early B, because of the terrible black-spot they all suffered this wet summer. I am determined to keep on top of it next year.
17 Dec, 2012
Guess who didn't do it. I delivered Christmas cards instead.
18 Dec, 2012
Needs must! :)
18 Dec, 2012
I did take a look at my new Hellebores this afternoon - one of them has a lovely flower, so I'll post its photo.
I still haven't pruned the roses - I went to see how a friend is coping with her flooded house. We compared notes!

More heavy rain tomorrow B :(
18 Dec, 2012
I know - we have a severe weather warning out and an Amber flood alert for the w/end. I'm terrified. :-(((
19 Dec, 2012
:(( In a way...the damage is already done B...but I'm hoping and praying we won't have any more floods this year, especially at your house! :) xx
