Steve, what a fun, I have just finished reading English magazine, which says about robin:
"Fiercely territorial, the male defends his patch throughout the year, only relaxing his tenure during the harshest winter weather. While both sexes cary the iconic red chest, the male employs it to maximum effect when proclaiming ownership of a site:he throws his head back to reveal the full vivid hues and sings with gusto to all challengers."
