This is how large the common tropical Hibiscus can get here in San Diego, CA. It was in full bloom even in January. Photo taken at La Jolla Shores on Jan. 7, 2013.

Don't feel too sorry for it! lol! The one you have is a hardy species. :>)
This one posted above is the evergreen tropical species. We've had some of the coldest weather in years here in Southern California over the last 6 days. I'm so sick of the cold weather, already!

Yes, that's very true! We forget so very quickly! lol!
Today was a beautiful warm day at 70ºF (21ºC), it may be close to 80ºF (27ºC) by Friday! I hope it's true, because I'm so over this horrible cold weather! Tonight is so much warmer than it's been at this time the last 6 nights. :>)
Fortunately, the avocado, citrus, strawberry and tomato crops were not damaged or destroyed here in California. I guess the cold was not low enough for a long enough time. :>)
