Not cabbages

I'm currently visiting Japan and staying in Osaka. I found these in a local park which was very well tended. They're the same plant that David_Mann has photos of. The long stems in this photo are only there in the spring and make them look much less cabbage like.

One of my current favourites, I have them here at home, too. They do tend to grow leggy and, sometimes, flower, in the Spring, when after their best - a bit like edible cabbages, etc, which have "bolted".

The two colours contrast well.
