Sailing dinghy in Stained Glass.

A sailing dinghy for our daughter. This was made using the copper foil method of stained glass making.

Thanks Scottish. I'll tell him. That is the glass left over from the front door. We have been along to get some different colours today.

Beautiful, he's doing ever so well, he's clearly a natural at this!

He is a bit of a perfectionist Louisa and once he makes up his mind to do something he tries very hard.

Thanks Lulu, not standard colours down at the water but hey its artistic license.

What a great gift! I like it, also the idea. It is the symbol of the Church.

Thank you Sticki. The 2nd one is half way there now. It is a very messy and potentially dangerous hobby. Glass particles fly around and he could really do with a dedicated space in which to work but that means clearing out a garden hut and its not the weather for that at the moment. He is confined to working in the studio once a week. I love the way it looks as if the sun is glinting on the water.

I love that too ~ it sparkles! Sorry i missed seeing this till now ~ not sure how i missed it

i can imagine you have to be very careful, if there are animals or small children around it could be even more dangerous. but it must be such a satisfying hobby.

perhaps you could put workshop on the christmas list!!

Don't worry about not seeing it Sticki. There is so much on here its hard to keep up. We have plenty of potential areas he can work in, its deciding what to get rid of to give him that space. We have not been going around with bare feet since he started doing this.

its very clever how the sail appears to billow out in the wind and yet my brain tells me that is flat glass!

19 Apr, 2013

It is flat. One of the artistic members will be able to explain it has something to do with the shape of the curves on the sail. Also the blue looking quite realistically like water helps our brains to feel something that is not there, fooling us in to seeing what we want to see. I think lol
