Thats lovely. It will be great to see how it grows. You will need to give us regular updates on it.

I love miniature gardens and think you can be very creative with them. Yours is lovely and yes please, let's have some updates!

Thanks ladies :)
Louisa, I've only just found out where to buy these Tufa rocks, I'd like to experiment and drill a hole and grow something through them but I'm not quite confident enough yet!
I will Sheila - I'm not sure if I've used enough plants to get the effect but I can always add :) I tried to get a sort of mound going on but it didn't work!!
Lulu - I know it's mini but the trough is rather large and will be a bit of a drama to move anywhere. It's up on the decking, in the sun and there it will stay! I'll rig up a contraption to keep the wet of in winter

It WILL grow well :-)

A short length of plastic pipe, Scottish, sunk into the pot, then an umbrella.
The weight of the pot will keep it stable.
A hole drilled through the pipe & brolly with a 'pin' to stop the brolly sailing off with the wind.

It's lovely! Good job!

It is lovely. Are they alpines?

Mouldy - I will take your design comments on board :)
Thanks Karen - I want to put more in but will see how these cope first!
Anujag - yes, all alpines that require similar growing conditions. There are some pictures of far superior efforts on one of my blogs about my visit to the SRGC show at the beginning of April. You can get an idea of what I'm trying to create.

I'm sure you come up with some fiendishly ingenius construction, Scottish. :-)
