Slad I have always loved the scent and had some perfume years ago, Lily of the Valley reminds me of the first place I worked in a lady use to come at this time of the year selling lovely bunches a whole bunch smells gorgeous .. They do well here Sb I don't have them in direct sunlight as they are a woodland plant ,we have a wood near here where loads of them grow with the blue bells ,I must go and see them soon , Thanks TT :o))

Brings back such happy memories of the garden where I grew up. My grandad lived with us and was a keen gardener and we had lots of lily of the valley under an elm tree.

Nice memories Chris both of your Grandad and the Lily of the Valley , very often there's a certain scent of a flower that brings back old memories :o)

I love these! will have to post a pic of my little patch on the edge of the forest. I think they started there because someone had a compost heap in the area...lol. These and the appleblossoms are sweet smelling now. At times the smell is strong and heady and at other times it's light as the breeze...just delightful.

Gorgeous little flowers. These were my wedding flowers when we got married 1959. Just a small posy of lily of the valley, with a white prayer book!!
I have loved them ever since. The scent is up there with Freesias and very fragrant roses!! Beautiful.
Summerbree - I have loads in my garden which just keep spreading!! Too think really, half the time the flowers are hidden amongst all the leaves.
I wonder if I could send a clump to you. Don't know when it should be done?
