So pleased you put this photo on Amy as it's reminded to add C. tangutica to my garden plants index! I had a 'Bill' for a few years, he used to climb up through a variegated Ivy - I guess Bill and Ivy fell out with one another as he is nowhere to be seen now! I have planted 4 of the tanguticas to clothe a back fence and the first blooms are out today ... :o)

I'm pleased to have been able to remind you Shirley ,I had a C. tangutica but it died I've no idea why I'll have to get another one , it's nice to have some late flowering climbers 4 plants on your fence is going to be a wonderful display !

A lovely surprise then Amy......

Its pretty Amy. Are the flowers the size of C. Tangutica. I have tangutica flowering now and the flowers are tiny.

Very nice, Amy. And there are lot of people who think the same :-)

Dawnsaunt just asked the question I had. My tangutica didn't make it thro the first winter! strange that a specie from that part of the world should be so tender.
21 Sep, 2013
These flowers are smaller Dawn but then I've noticed several Clems have been smaller this year, Thanks Kat , I've had 2 Tangutica's in my garden Lori each time they died on me ,that why I was so pleased to see this Clematis doing well !
22 Sep, 2013
Thanks Amy. I found my C. Tangutica survived and self set in the bed and our winters are harsh, weird. I grew mine from seed so perhaps worth saving those fluffy seed heads :-)
22 Sep, 2013
You are clever Dawn I've grown from cuttings but never tried growing them from seed how long does it take for them to germinate ?
22 Sep, 2013
They were really easy to grow Amy. Loads germinated. Cant remember if I sowed them autumn or spring.
23 Sep, 2013
Thanks for that Dawn , I'll collect some seed when it's ready and have a go x

I sent Kathy seed and she had success too.
