Thanks Waddy,I do have another one,in yellow but it is never as good as this .should be in flower at Christmas,when this one finishes..a different variety I think.This one had 43 flowers on a couple of years ago..must like living here :o)

It is just gorgeous. I cannot believe that you can do that 9 years in the row Bloomer. My cymbidium decided to bloom this year and I have it probably 9 years now. So for me it is once in 9 years :-)

Thank you,Karen.Amy,Sheila,Val,and Klahanie ,.. I'm amazed it has lived so long too,as I had never had one before our friends bought it for our 30th Wedding Anniversary,and it always starts to flower about the end of June,in time for for the latter part of July..clever eh?
I hope it lasts for a long time yet..I love it :o)

How beautiful Bloomer, mine never last the year, you certainly have a magic touch to keep it flowering so well for so long :o)

klahanie your cymbidium needs a cool spell to trigger the flowers that's when they produce the flower buds.

Thanks Neellan,that's a shame.Maybe you are too quick to get rid of it,after the flowers have finished? I have never been successful in cutting the stems back to a node,so I wait to see for a while,and then I cut them off to the bottom,and just leave it to tick over,with a bit of water now and then, to stop it drying out altogether...it is always at least 6 months before I see a tiny stem appearing,and then it's away again..that's when I start to feed it,occasionally..it is also in my lounge north facing window,so it doesn't get hot,when the heating goes on...well worth the wait ,to have it in bloom for another 6 months :o)..It was only stood on the Hearth for this

Thanks S.lad..it will be a sad day,if it kicks the bucket,as it probably will at some point,but I hope it keeps going a while yet..I agree with you about the Cymbidium..

Maybe move it to a cool place for a while,Klahanie? and then bring it into a bit more warmth..worth a try :o)
Take a look at a blog called "Awkward Orchids" from Spritzhenry..about two or three years ago now..very helpful indeed..
