Is that bouganvillia (if I could spell it!!) Gorgeous.

Yes it is Shirlwhirl. I have seen it spelled numerous ways. Mine (in description) is spelled local Mexican way.
Does not it look healthy?

This is amazing. Yes, this plant is present in many Mediterranean hotel gardens, too.

It's beautiful anyway.

pretty...

It is a vigorous grower in this climate Katarina, and not fussy at all. It is planted in very poor soil.

Thanks Holly and Jane for commenting.

Thank you Terra.

That's beautiful! It's a very common sight here in San Diego, also. There's huge ones which grow along our freeways, too.

Thanks Delonix. Most popular plant in our climate, is not it? So colourful too.

Just amazing!!

I like the very deep yellow but it is not so common.

Klahanie:

If you see some interesting varieties of Bougainvillea you can grow them from cuttings pretty easily. I've started some in water in the past. I won't grow them in the ground because of the woody spines. I've had my share of being poked by the big thorns when I used to have several varieties planted along a long fence at my house in the San Francisco Bay Area.

Klahanie:

Is the yellow you're speaking of: Bougaivillea 'California Gold?'

19 Nov, 2013

That is the one Delonix. Is not it beautiful? It is not very common here.

I'm not bragging; however, B. 'California Gold' is extremely common everywhere here. It's available, very inexpensive at all nurseries and big box stores.

I've posted several on GoY in the past.

Here's my neighbor's plant:
