A tree from arid eastern Mexico, which stores water in a swollen stem.

I see these trees growing in landscapes here but have not seen them growing wild yet. We are inland but on the western side of Mexico and you say "eastern". That is probably why. Thanks for the botanical name, I only knew it as "Pony tail" palm..
