Agree with Melchi Olive, what do you have trained over the arch?

It was put up many years ago Janey, it originally had climbing roses, but they were in too shadey a place and I am afraid they died off. Now there is honeysuckle, clematis and a bit of ivy which is the wild kind which grows everywhere in the garden. There is a shoot off one of the old stumps of roses which decided to throw out a branch. It still keeps trying to grow, but quite a weak rose.
Thank you everyone for looking in :O) pleased you like this pathway, it is the main pathway into the property and has the least work done on it but it is allowed to just do its own thing. A bit wild and running free most of the time. It is the only way with this part of the garden as the hedge has grown rather tall and is more tree than hedge these days, it blocks out the light, but I like it like that and so do the hundreds of birds which hide from the Sparrowhawk in there.

I am hoping that the Montana Clematis I planted will cover the first arch, it was growing so well last summer I live in hopes of lots of lovely flowers. The framework has been there for years and years, in fact it is quite rotten in places but still stands up so will leave well alone until it collapses. More wild area than gardened area. Too dark really to do much with it just there. The arch at the top of the path has a Wisteria growing up and over it and it has now grown into the hedge and over the Christmas trees on the driveway side. lol. It is a bit hit and miss as to how many flowers it gets some years good some not so good. It is too tall for me to get up to chop back so it has to do its own thing and it does. lol :O)
Thank you both for looking in and enjoying :O)

I'm sure your Montana will cover it and more Barbara they grow at such a rate (often where you don't want them..lol!). A wisteria, how lovely, the scent of those flowers is incredible isn't it? I'm sure it'll look beautiful, and now I love the look of your pathway, it looks nicely established and natural with lots of trees in the backdrop, perfect!

Thanks Janey, it has not grown as fast as I was hoping think the trees have not helped it in its endeavours.

Nah, this year it might be 'The Secret Garden, or maybe 'The Blair Witch Project'. Lol.
