Geranium maderense

Geranium maderense

In the transition area from one daylily bed to the main beds, I have let these geraniums go wild. The ones in the forward left area will flower next year, while the ones that are flowering will drop lots of seeds.

They look amazing!!! you're so lucky that this grows so well for you, I tried once but they're not hardy here and I lost them before they flowered, could grow them in a pot but they'd need one big pot!!!!, I'll just admire yours :-)

In this area there are over 20 plants with flowers. I started the seeds once, and now they are self-seeding and spreading. But they are huge - about 4 feet tall & wide. Native to Madeira, they have to be kept frost-free.

They re seed for me..but I can never keep more then 3-4 at a time at most. Big semi annuals.

I removed a lot of these after they finished flowering, and a few were cut back. I think I will get a second year of flowers from them. In September, there were hundreds of new seedlings from the seed that had fallen.
