Photo taken yesterday on one of my neighbours Corsican pine trees. The woodpecker feeds regularly on our peanut feeder, then drinks from the bird bath. I will do a blog later with a few more photos.

had to go to wiki to find out who it is as I have never seen this kind before Great Spotted Woodpecker (Dendrocopos major) apparently does not live in North America. We have Pileated, Downy and Hairy on the Island. All 3 come to our feeder.
Looking forward to your blog.

Thanks Angie and Klahanie, very difficult to photograph, as they are so timid. As soon as you go near the window, their off. I have quite a few photos with the head and tail cut off, but I think I've got three or four decent ones to tell a little story. It will be my first blog so please bear with me.
Thanks Klahanie for the additional information. I should really do a bit more research to get all the detail, before posting the photos.

We are very lucky, but we haven't seen any Gold Finches this year on the nyjer seed. Maybe they find the woodpeckers intimidating, as all the feeders are quite close together.
