Bumble bees have been nesting in a bird box at the end of the garden. Fascinating to watch them coming and going. Sorry, very poor photo but they get very 'buzzy' if I go too close :)

I've got lots of ideas for nest boxes, never thoght that anything other than birds might use them, would be fascinating for bees to move in.
lol alwys best to give some room to anything that might bite back if you get too close!

The box has been in situ (now nearly overgrown by plants) for a number of years but has never been used by birds! I disturbed the bees when I knocked it while trying to do some planting. I built a special bee/bug hotel for them last year but they haven't been near that.

I hope they leave you a honey comb in payment for their board and lodgings , thieves have been stealing Bee hives to order , they'll do anything these days !

Do bumble bees make honeycomb? I know nothing about them so any info would be appreciated. I really need to trim the honeysuckle and the Euonymus as it is going wild but there is no way I will disturb them. They seem very placid and are happy for me to stand and watch although if I get too near lots more come out and keep and eye on me :)

Must put up something like that and see if it gets used by some bees.
