I was only about 3-4 foot away, Fran, and was surprised that he didn't fly away. I think he was too busy eating his fill while the rest of the family were elsewhere. My new arch now doubles up as a feeding station :)

Guess what was under my feeding station this morning , a RAT ! OH has been to get some rat poison we will have to be very careful how we put in down in a tube so the little birds can't reach it ...

I've had that problem in the past, Amy, it seems inevitable with the village pond just over the fence. I try and make sure there is no food left out overnight but that's not always possible. I have a bait box as sold in the DIY places and that seems to work well but I still make sure it is covered with bricks so Millie and tortoises (and the birds) can't get near it or overturn it.

We've put it under a shrub I don't think the birds would go under there, the poison is in a tube I was out earlier when it dashed out in front of me and headed for the ditch ,I don't like it I had bare feet with sandals ... yikes !
