Thanks Carole / Angela I have half a doz clematis on the left side I need to put more roses in to support them there is one rose that side which doesn't appear to be growing very well ,I have a winter flowering honeysuckle the far end which smells gorgeous when in flower the right hand side has more clematis plants plus roses 'Warm Welcome ' also 'School Girl''Pink Delight ' and ' Mischief ' those sweet peas are the everlasting ones they flower for ages the holly hock has self seeded from one I have on the other side just out of view , I,m guilty of wanting things to happen over night but its a game you have to have patient with .. :o)

I love what you have done there Amy ! When I put the archway up on the path border, my hubby suggested we put more up, but I wasn't sure whether some of the plants would get shaded, but looking at yours, I might have to have a rethink !

That's brilliant, Amy, a lovely tunnel to wander through. I like the sound of all your plants, a gorgeous mix. Just be patient :)

Thanks you all for being to positive about my arch ,the main reason for siting it here is that we have an old Arcon on the right side of the arch and the arch is intended to hide it ,the shade that side doesn't appear to trouble it Rose in fact because it get the full sun in the afternoon it probably helps to keep it shaded ..... Sorry Sandra I called you Angela Woops !! another senior moment :o)

Very nice, Amy, one of the most beautiful "tunnels" in flower beds, I have seen for a long time.

Thanks Karen / Kat that's very kind of you I'm good at getting ideas but my poor hubby gets lumbered with a lot of the heavy work it's a good job he doesn't mind :o)

That is advantage to have a man, who will realise your projects, Amy! I have never met such person.

That looks beautiful Amy, and a nice pathway you can actually walk down, best not let Rob see this mine need drastic action things have grown so much and my paths are pretty much inaccessible lol.

Its hard to keep on top of everything Kathy we can only do our best ... your welcome Rose try it Honeysuckle for instance is a woodland plant ......

Amy, do you erect the arches yourself, if so what do you use? I have been thinking of doing something similar.
16 Jul, 2014
Yes we put them up ourselves Treetop we had to have two sections to get the length .. we didn't want to pay a huge amount as we knew we were going to cover and hide it , the first section was a reasonable amount to pay the second was much cheaper and already we can tell the difference ,the first had strong bars going across the sections, the second just plain metal hoops which are coming loose we suspect that won't last as long , for arches that can be seen elsewhere in the garden we buy a better quality or hubby makes simple rustic ones from wood .. rustic poles work well if you have the time and energy , let me know what you decide and how it evolves :o)
