The recipe said 40 mins Angela but they did need a little longer , I haven't a clue as to how long the rest of the gourds will keep, they should last for some time ! you could grow some up your fence these grew up the same poles as our runner beans ..

Along the lines of stuffed marrow , Amy ?
I love that , but OH tends to turn his nose up at it .
I've grown a few various shaped squashes , they are quite exciting to see growing , but as they are so rare in my garden , I just keep them for display .
They do keep very well , so you can enjoy them for a long while yet .
I'm interested that they grow up bean poles .
Looks very appetising , BTW .

We enjoyed it Junna very tasty ,yes full Sun Angela I have grown the smaller varieties over a rose arch they look quite effective hanging down , bean poles are ideal Julia the only problem is the leaves grow huge and you then have to lift them to find your runner beans I plant them at the ends of the rows and then they tend to grow up and along the top of the poles ..

Fascinated to see this as they are only ever shown whole in photos, and I've always wondered if they are any good to eat. Thanks Amy! I can still remember Mum stuffing a marrow when I was a child. It was a one off in our house. Not very appealing for children is it? But I would enjoy it now I think...especially a little squash like this. Nice starter perhaps.

I'm keeping it hot Carole Lol ... Karen I never did fancy marrow you definitely have to put other flavors into these things the other thing is when you have taken the time to grow them yourself you feel guilty about wasting your produce so try to make the most of them .....

Yes, it's doubly terrible to chuck something away when you grew it yourself isn't it! I put the last of the strawberries in the bin today as they were mouldy, but it was really hard doing it!

Can you write to us details of this food? I wonder, what did you stuff it with.

I would also like to know how to make this. It looks very tasty and healthy too. The Gourds are in season.

Kat & Bg First of all I washed & scrapped the seeds out of the Gourd then fried onions ,green & red peppers , then added some peas ,small chunks of carrot you can put in what ever you have available ,for example you could use minced meat , I stuffed the mixture into the Gourd then poured a large tablespoon of chicken stock inside .. oven Temp 190 C.. 375 F... fan 170... gas 5 for approx 1 hour test by lifting the lid and sticking a sharp knife into the flesh of the Gourd . I hope this helps ...

I've always varnished them as decoration before HB I Googled a recipe after having grown so many it seemed wasteful not to try to use them , try it next year if you grow anymore ....
