Apparently (so my daughter tells me!) humans shrink approximately an inch every 10 years after the age of 30. So I have lost up to 4 inches - when I started senior school I was third tallest in the class so I think you're right about the newer generations becoming taller, Amy. We must all have been shorties in the 1950s :)

I'm off to measure myself Gill ,I always measure the grandchildren against a chart on their bedroom wall and am amazed at how much they have grow at each visit and they don't let me forget to do it either , by your daughters reckoning I must have lost 4" as well !

My grandchildren, the two in the photo, measured me in a shop (children's department) the other day and both fell about laughing, cheeky monkeys :)
