I have field of these lovely Winter Aconites on the Island Amy and I am missing their blooms because we spend our winters in Mexico.. They are completely gone by May. Not only flowers but the leaves as well. All plant is gone. They are replaced by wild violas for a while. Also pretty.

I wonder if I have lost mine - didn't notice them when I looked out this morning. I will have a proper look tomorrow - fingers crossed. If I remember rightly mine always lag behind yours so I won't give up yet.

I can imagine a field of Aconites would look beautiful Klahanie hopefully you will still see the Violas in flower on your return .
Gill do you have a snorkel or diving gear to help in your search ? sorry that's not funny is it , I hope your water has drained away by tomorrow and you find the Aconites x

They grow wild near me too, I'm so tempted to dig a bit up as I've not seen any in the GC around where I live.

You're wicked, Amy :) I have just been out, all the water has drained away but a thin layer of sludgy stuff has been left everywhere (and it doesn't smell too good either). I tiptoed through it but couldn't see any aconites - maybe later. Don't tell anyone but I might have to act on Waddy's temptation :)

I've not succumed yet Gee, but tie will tell. I do hope your garden recovers soon :0

Your Queen of Spades and these Aconites seem like Tudor plants to me Amy...especially with the green ruff collar these wear.

I knew you would see the funny side Gill :o) Waddy they had pots of them on our market stalls last year ,I haven't been to look yet this year ! I think you are right Janey please don't say " off with their heads " LOL ...

Amy, these little beauties have just cheered me up. Is it too early to say spring is on its way? Probably not the correct thing to say, as our car got sand blasted by a road gritter, earlier today ... lol.
13 Jan, 2015
Thanks Alan yes I do think spring is on the way so many plants are forming buds , That's terrible having your car sand blasted did it do any serious damage ? if so I'm guessing you could file a complaint for damages ... the dustbin men were due here yesterday the bins from neighboring properties had tipped over in the wind scattering rubbish everywhere ,do they bother to pick it up , what a silly question !!

Interesting Amy .... we have the same issue, even when the bins don't get blown over. Every Monday morning I put our bin& boxes back, then go round with my long handled picker, clearing up. Bitterly gold here last night. I'm just going to pop a photo on of a Hellebore that is just recovering from the shock.

Proper winter flowers! I added some to my garden this year. I'll be ever so happy if they are flowering when I get home on Monday!
