It's beautiful! I don't see to many here in San Diego...they need too much water and like cooler weather.

Even here they prefer semi shade . I killed at least 4 of red ones already and planted beautiful yellow leaved Acer shirasawanum 'Jordan' which they say has excellent sun tolerance and can be planted in full sun but its leaves were burned to crisp 2 years in the row. I still hope that when it gets establish it will tolerate the sun little better. I like it in the spot where it is now and do not want to move it.

Yes, that's the biggest problem here in San Diego...they burn up. Even when I lived in the San Francisco Bay Area Japanese Maples burned, also.

Mine in the UK have had some lovely coloured leaves, shame they have to fall off :o((
