Saguaro cactus forest

Amazing.

We only ever see these kind of plants in pictures or TV ... very different ...

It is pretty neat is not it? They grow only in Sonoran Desert. And they have beautiful flowers in Spring.

WOW! That's an impressive stand of Saguaro cactus. Even though they grow here you don't see too many. I've seen them growing this big in far eastern San Diego County (the desert, of course. Which is located in the north-western part of the Sonoran desert). They're so impressive when you see them in person.

Seeing those big cacti surrounded by lush green is more of "Its warm here all year"
A huge clump of Organ Pipe Cactus to the left. Its never seen a freeze I bet.

I would love to see them all in bloom too, but we are passing by in a wrong time. Both ways.

It can be nippy at night in winter in the desert Stan but probably not a freeze. This was just south of the border between Arizona and Sonora.
We are in completely different climate here at the lake......almost tropical. The vegetation here never seems to amaze me.

I bet these cacti have experienced freezes in the past. They are very hardy.

Its possible those are Neobuxbaumia sp. Not as large as a Saguaro- but really can fill a valley in Mexico as far as number per square yard.
