Have not done any painting's for about two years and doubted if my hands and eyes would still be capable of delicate work. This one i started a long time ago I liked it but something was always missing, so i while the weather has been bad added a lot of shadow and the Owl.
OH likes it and she is my biggest critic

Janey I was fortunate to see one close up last autumn it was in a barn used for hay and frightened by a galvanized sheet flapping in strong wind it flew over my head and on down over the field where i was walking Jamie it was very similar to the one I painted ,have you ever handled one,I have in captivity and they are so light there seems nothing there but feathers

Brian, a couple of years ago I met a lady walking around my favourite nursery with a Barn Owl on her arm. She kept it as a 'pet'. I was very moved to see it. Then a couple of weeks later I visited Dobbies GC and there was a man there with about a dozen different Owls, all sitting on wooden blocks, very calm and tame. It was incredible. They are unbelievably beautiful animals!

I used to hear a Tawny Owl at night, but haven't heard it yet this year. I miss it.

We visited Muncaster Castle in the lakes a few years ago where they have an owl sanctuary.....all types, just wonderful birds....and yes I held a barn owl, it was much smaller then I thought it would be and so incredibly light as you say.....a quiet whisper on my hand.....
You can see all the owls there Bjs,if you have a look on page 2 of my blogs......that was a good day..

Janey
it looks similar to a bird of pray trust I visited a few years ago in Devon called Yarak Birds I was able to try flying them there.
Homebird I have tawny Owls in the trees behind where I live but rarely see them ,there is one calling on a night now may be looking for a mate.
