Lychee tree

Lychee tree (Litchi chinensis)

I finally learned today what this tree was . Lychee tree -(Litchi chinensis). It is a big and beautiful tree and dominates our back yard. Too bad that it is fruiting in late summer.

Lovely tree, K. I wonder how they harvest the lychees. I think the ripe ones that drop off must be quite squashy so I'm sure they pick them well before that point.

Wow- I've only seen small potted plants sold here. They are native to subtropical highlands in the Himalaya's so Lake Chapala sounds identical.
