I have been raising and releasing monarchs for over 22 years. I never tire of the miracle. It's so exciting every year.My own children loved it. Now that they are grown up, I share it with my little kindergarteners.

Wonderful close-up, they are the prettiest of the butterflies we have in our garden, but I rarely get to see them any more.

What a beaut! I've often gone around my garden with camera in-hand and failed abysmally to snap a butterfly or hummingbird moth because I can't focus fast enough! So can readily appreciate your fantastic achievement.
How'd you do it?

Wow, do you get those hummingbird moths in your garden in Devon? When I first saw one, I thought it was really a hummingbird they have a proper little bird face don't they.

This monarch had just emerged from the chrysalis so it wasn't quite ready to fly. The colors are so sharp because it was so new. You can get some really great shots when you raise them from caterpillars. I teach kindergarten and it is such a great experience for the kiddies. The other lesson they learn is to have respect and love of nature.
