Great photo. I've never seen one of these, but have seen the privet hawk moth a few times.

This is the first time for me to see one as well. I've seen several elephant hawkmoths. The catterpillars live on my fuchsias :)

Lovely photo Hywel. We've had a few different moths this year and the Elephant Hawkmoth. Yes, they like the Fuchsias.

I'd prefer butterflies, though. But the photo is very good, well captured
