Lovely big trees aren’t they! Autumn colour developing nicely too.

I promise you all, you wouldn't want the leaf fall. It all seems to end in our front garden if the wind gets up (which it does a lot in October!). Takes hours to clear away and has the potential to smother the poor narcissi in the late winter if we don't do the job. Still, they are beautiful and the fall makes good compost..

There are only two trees though. Which way is the prevailing wind - do they mostly get blown into your garden? We have ash and sycamores round our garden so I know what you mean by sweeping up! I don't mind that so much, its the tree seedlings in the spring that cause more work in the long run. But I guess the conkers won't blow that far! Do you get little boys throwing sticks up the trees when the conkers are ripe? I used to love playing conkers!
I did buy one of those blow vac things that are supposed to suck the leaves up into a big bag but I am not tall enough and the bag trails on the floor and comes unhooked, lol...

Stera, there are only 2 trees but they are venerable and big! Most of the leaves do end up here. The local kids can't leave them alone at the moment!
Yes, these 'times savers' aren't always exactly that, are they??

Well Ange, I would be collecting the conkers for indoors to keep the spiders away! Which does work, I might add!

I haven't seen many spiders inside this year, Rose.

Rose, that is so interesting - what do yo do with the conkers - string them up, put them in a bowl, line them up on the windowsill or what?

Lovely trees Ange, and do you get squirrels collecting the conkers? We have started getting spiders inside. Found one in the kitchen yesterday over the fridge freezer, and several larger ones scurrying across the floor.

No squirrels that I have seen, Linda, although they are in the trees on the edge of the estate.
Spiders don't last long here with the cats about. I had one climbing up my leg yesterday!

Flies are our problem this year.I've even used fly spray at them which is not something I usually do. We used to have a cat that caught and ate them but our present ones aren't interested.

Yes, Stera, they've been a pest here too. Cats treat them as a delicacy - I can't bear to watch. Yum!

We used to say she was eating sweeties....

Great. I should go bananas without at least one nice big tree to look at and that one's a real beauty! Bet they helped you to get through lockdown.
