In full flower now, this old Heather is such a treat to brighten up February days..

Thank you Kate, it's very woody and has grown.over the side instead of staying in the bed. I clip it well after it's flowered.
Sorry to hear they don't do too well at yours.
It's very light free draining old soil here and does get heat too in the summer.
Maybe a different position in your garden would help, or have one in a pot!

Hi Julia, well apart from a good clip, I leave it be. I had to prune it when the resin went down, but it's slowly growing back, to lay on the ground again.

Nice to see yours in flower,Janey, and so easy care, aren't they ? My neighbour has quite a few of different colours, and it lifts the spirits to see them all in flower now. They are huge,as have never been pruned !x

Yes, they make quite a good mound Sheila. I've one or two brighter coloured ones in the same bed growing through lavenders too.

Hi Sandra, yes if not pruned, then they can.make a good sized shrub. And yes they do lift the spirits, soft green fern.like foliage all summer and autumn and then suddenly, they're sprinkled with little bells of colour, a real delight..:)

Lovely plant, Janey!
I've thought several times over the last few years of getting some & planting them in the pots on top of the balcony railings in place of the Pansies, which like every year for the last 6 or 7 have died once again! I don't know why I bother or waste money on trying to grow Pansies knowing they will probably die on me - yet again!

Thanks for the tip, Janey. A potted one is definitely worth considering.

It’s a fine specimen, Janey! Looks so healthy and floriferous too. I have tried and failed in my patch of garden.
