1st treat

Janey

1st treat

I bought 2 new roses a few weeks ago. Old vintage ones. Down the bottom of the garden, I had the tamarix tree pruned and Bobby James beautiful thug rambler cut right back.
So lots more light..:) Then out came all the old dahlias and I've planted Love and Wishes maroon coloured Salvias, split the Chives into 3 and this is the first of the new roses, Rosa rugosa Roseraie de l'Hay. Fantastic perfume and bright orange hips for the birds in Autumn.

I have the white form and the hips are fabulous! I've seen this one planted in gardens and it's a very intense colour.

I will like that Ange. I have seen a hedge of it at a country house nearby and in summer always stop because of the vivid colour and scent..
I bet the white form is very lovely too, and those hips!

Looks to be a lovely old rose, Janey! If the perfume is as intense as you say even a "nose-blind" should be able to smell it! šŸ˜† Hope you will post a few photos of it in flower & then later in the year when the hips are on display.

Sorry I'm late getting back to you Balc.
I hope it will do well in the summer. As of now the leaves are taking a while to unfurl, with the cold and wet. Yes I'll certainly to that!
