Very clever of you to get them growing so well.

Thank you Josee. Most of the time I ignore them ... all they need is an occasional drink (like us!).

I love them! To see the leaves emerging in spring must be exciting..:)

Fab, Sheila! I'd love to master your skill!

Thanks Janey, yes, each year the leaves emerge slightly smaller. It’s just a bit of fun 🙂.
Thanks Kate, you could grow them easily … there’s no special skill involved. A sapling put into a small container will stay “dwarf” because there’s no room for the roots to spread. When the trees have grown enough, maybe five or six years later, then I will prune them just like a normal shrub. Some growers shape the young trees with wires but I prefer their natural shapes.

Well done for getting your bonsai trees growing Sheila. We have several trees, some over 25 years old. We give them a feed in the summer and have a bowl of water to soak them in if it's very hot. We prune them in the winter, and Gerry wires the trunks to curve them when they are young. In the winter we place them under the carport for some protection. Lovely to see your trees.

Thanks Linda, that sounds perfect. What types do you grow? Hope we’ll see some photos?!
