Thanks, Ange and Wildrose. We sometimes see them dart in a flash of bright blue across the river, down the road and saw this one go across to the long pond behind the tearooms. We crept along quietly and looked around then suddenly saw him sitting on the branch ahead of us. He was watching us all the time. It made our day to see him so close.

Sometimes you can see them from a Hide. A nature reserve, Lempsford Springs, is not far from us, and on a visit a few years ago in one Hide we saw a tall pole sticking up in the middle of the chalk stream - perfect spot for a Kingfisher. He thought so too, and landed after a few minutes, so we had a perfect view!

How lovely is that Shelia. They are so beautiful.
We saw him again yesterday as he flew over the river.

What a joy to see him Linda, and how magical!
Such stunning colours, that is a great capture and knowing that he's not far away must be lovely.

It was a very special moment in time Janey. They are usually so shy and quick, a flash of bright blue and they're gone.
