Thanks Sheila and Janey. Every few years I take cuttings from the cacti and this is four years old now. I gave my neighbour a potful of cuttings too and her plant has even more flowers than mine....The orchid has had four lots of flowers this year. We give it orchid feed in the summer. We soak the pot in rainwater we collect, from the tub outside, then let it drain out so that the plant isn't too wet. When the flowers have finished I cut down to the next node on the stem and it starts all over again. Hope this helps....

Lovely, Lindak! My Christmas Cacti now have lots of flower buds but none have opened just yet.
My 3 Orchids only flower once a year. I've had them for several years now & they flower faithfully every year! Last year I repotted them in Orchid compost I had to buy online because I couldn't find any locally. I was bit nervous about doing it but I needn't have been because they flowered later & again this year. In the future if I repot an Orchid I will no longer feel nervous about doing so!

Well done Balcony. They are beautiful flowers aren't they and they last for such a long time. We had to place this orchid in a larger pot because it outgrew the other one and we put ours into special bark compost too.

They are spectacular & long lasting flowers, aren't they? I did a blog on my experience of repotting them first (& only for the present!) time. You might be interested in searching for it.
